World Music introduction--Lais

Lais is a musical group from Belgian, three female members good at capella, kind of harmonic polyphonic without instrumental sounds, creates folk and world music. The word "Lais" means "voice" in Celtic language, Celt also calls Kelt, is a ethnolinguistic group, tribal societies in Iron Age of medieval Europe. Started in 1994, they performed at many countries and festivals. Their melodies are all self-composed and the lyrics is back to the Middle Ages. There debut album in 1998 was accompanied with instrument, the second album in 2003 called "A la capella", the third album "Douce Victime" in 2004 contained capella and Cajun music. In the "The Ladies' Second Song" of 2007, they tried to walk into broader public, so that they mixed with electric guitars, loops and electronic beats. Besides changing instrument, they also choose late modern poetry instead of old Flemish songbooks.
